Hopefully you had a wonderful weekend. We had a good time watching several football games and had a bar b que at my cousins house. I ate too much grilled chicken and watermelon but it was worth it.

Yesterday just lounged around not doing much of anything. Today I saw an article about software and how much prices are going up and this got me to thinking. Did you know that you can get many different (good) software products now for virtually nothing.

Think about it for a minute. Microsoft Office costs around $350 for their big suite.. lets pretend for a minute that every couple of years you upgrade for about 200 bucks. After 10 years you would have spend a grand. There are many different alternatives to most of their products and the wonderful thing about these products is they are free. Over the next few weeks we’ll be talking about some different alternatives to help you save some money.

Friday we’ll talk about some free Word alternatives.

Saturday we’ll talk about some free Excel / spreadsheet alternatives.

Next week we’ll talk about some other ideas for saving money on software.
