Our Great Adventure Continues
Traveling to Indiana
You can check out how our adventure here .
We started our trip on a Tuesday morning (early 3am or so). I enjoy driving in the mornings when there isn’t much traffic. We had everything packed and we had Kate (our GPS) programmed for the journey… eight hours to go.
I enjoy driving. I can drive 7 or 8 hours usually with no problems, if I have to drive after 8 hours I start to get grumpy. If it’s over ten hours then you need to stay away from me, so if it’s a long trip (greater than 10 hours) we try and break things down into two parts. I really don’t like getting in much of a hurry anyway.
The trip to our Indiana destination was pretty uneventful until we ran into the wall cloud, I had heard about wall clouds before (maybe I watch the weather channel too much) but had never saw one. You know things are going to get bad when you see truck drivers slowing down to take pictures of the sky. It was still pretty early in the morning and I think it was just starting to get cranked up, but I did go a bit faster until it wasn’t above us anymore.
Savings tip: We asked our relatives about gas prices in the area and they mentioned that gas prices just off the interstate were 30 cents a gallon cheaper then they were in their town (or the surrounding towns). So we saved 20 bucks or so just by asking a simple question. Don’t have a friend in the area, you can always check out http://gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspx to find out if their are any crazy price changes in the areas you’ll be traveling in. That is a pretty cool map.
So we made it to our Indiana destination without too many problems. We enjoyed several days of rest, relaxation and fun.
