Getting your House ready for Winter
A chill is in the air … it was 80 this past weekend, barely got to 60 degrees today and it is supposed to be 40 tonight. I figured now would be a good time to remind you of some things that you can do to save money this winter.
By the way a good place to look to see how cold it is going to be this winter is by going here.

That is from the national weather service - a prediction for Jan - Feb - March.
Looks like it is going to be chillier in the south… so even if you leave where it normally isn’t very cold, you may want to winterize a bit more than usual.
An excellent source for winterizing can be found here -

Hopefully we have corrected that.

Keeping the Job you Have - Finding folks to network with (offline)
How to start a conversation - the trick here is to focus on being a friend. If people think you’re using them, then they will run away from you.
1. Be yourself.
2. You have to give to get.
3. If you’re talking to someone that is shy, use open ended questions… ask them about their work or hobbies.
4. Some conversations won’t lead anywhere, and others will. Just realize that every conversation won’t build your network. As you work on it though, you’ll get better at it.
5. If you’re shy, set a goal to start one conversation. As your confidence builds, set your goal at two for the next outing and so forth.

Hopefully you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Keeping the Job you Have - Finding folks to network with (offline)
Here are 8 places (that you may not have thought of) to find folks to network with.
1. Your church or place of worship.
2. Parents at your child’s school (going to the PTA can be fun).
3. Local sporting events.
4. At the library. See someone browsing the same books you do, start up a conversation.
5. At restaurants / coffee shops / fast food places.
6. At local festivals and gatherings.
7. While shopping.
8. While waiting in line.
The key to finding people is starting a conversation. We’ll work on some tips for that in next weeks issue.
Next week we’ll talk about some ways to grow your network.
Enjoy your weekend.
